Maybe i won't be able to have the Tradewars community i dreamed of

hosting the game is more work than it's worth. i might not host again if i do't get the kind of players that i used to have when i first played  the game.

i am starting anew.

i just banged my new game called Machdaddy, and it is ready to play. if your having connection troubles please email me.

there has to be a better way!!

if you where a luckey one to actualy get a chance to play my server then you might know that it has been on and off and on again for The last month. i am sad to say it will be off peremently for awhile untill they find a better way to monitor the server software in windows 8.  sorry for those few who cared.

Server down time without my knowledge

i just noticed that my server was down and not responding to connection attempts. i realised it was running as a service but not "started"

so i started it and it is now accepting connection attempts. but i need to check and see if it is accessable outside of my intranet.

Sever back up after disk scan and repair.

hopefully the BSOD is not going to be a problem for A while now. 

down time

because of 2 BSOD on the server i will have to keep the server down untill a chkdsk is finished.

what the heck is happining to my games?

not only do i catch a bot trying to access my server.  but every so often i notice that all my games are deleted.  if this keeps up i may have to bring the server down permently.

0.5 second power outage kills all games on my server.

So after a freak strom last night wiped the memory of my tradewars game and killed all data in memeory but it did not kill the  internet connection i had. but i lost all the data to all the games i was hosting. the data was there but the games in progress where wiped.  it is hard to explain but it has to do with the flash floods that saskatoon was hit with last night. all i can say is if you had a game on my server it is gone.,

i left my computer running while i was away for a few days and windows restarted. to do updates. it is back up now.

wow. that was some good respite.

Well after being unemployed for the last 6 months i now have the time i once did not when i discontiued my server. after catching up on the sleep i once was deprived from i now have an effort to make my Tradewars server up and running again. with 8 nodes and 25 game slots i now know that if i play me some tradewars i can host it again.

so in short. i am restarting my server again. now that i have the time.

Down for good? maybe

i was thinking that i should discontinue my server as it has run but not that many people will try to play it. not only that but i think i should try other things in my life. as maintaining a Tradewars server is more work than i am willing to put into this project.

if when i do decide to restart my server it will have fresh games in it.

running as a service is not as "reliable" as i thought it was.

a few days ago because of my router got reset i had to re-establish connectivity to my server by reconfirming the settings on my router. if you have been unable to play because of my server being down it is back up and ready to play once again.

server down untill the move

since my server is in another room in the house i live in i am not able to check it's status 24/7 untill i move into the room it is in. the weekend after the month change.  so just to be fair i will state that it will be down untill then.

but when it does come back online it will have some new fresh games on  it. since it never sees more than about a few players i will be playing on it daily once i do rebang the games

unexpected downtime

Forget about your server for a month and notice everyone thinks it is dead. i hopefully revived a server that just had communication issues with the outside world. it should now be back up and running. sorry for the inconvenience.

apparently a power serge has damaged my cable modem and i will not have internet till then as that is the soonest that they can come and replace my modem.

Fresh bangs soon but only if i start getting more traffic

other porjects like work has kept me away form maintaining my tradewars server and i know that if it goes down it won't be missed. as not many people play my tradewars game and i think that the classic tradewars is dead and soon i may abandon my server.

Nasty weather can disrupt game play

Since the power outage yesterday i was unable to update this blog to tell you that my server was down yesterday. because of the nasty weather it might go down again today or tomorrow as well till the weather calms down

server is back up and thanks for not sending me email about the down time. as this blog will be the place i will record actual purposeful down time.

will be shutting down my trade wars computer to clean it with a can of compressed air.  as i think it is about time i did so. hopefully it won't interrupt anyone game.
